INTRODUCTION:

One of the most beautiful high altitude meadows, Dayara Bugyal is located in the Gangotri range of Himalayas in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. It is located at an altitude of 3408 metres above sea level and it has everything for a trekker. This place is very beautiful throughout the year, this trek covers an area of 28 kms. It is among the highest and largest meadows which attracts hundreds of tourists and trekkers from all over the country.you can also visit Buran Ghati trek

This trek offers magnificent views of the Himalayan ranges and especially of mountains like Mt. Bandarpoonch, Kalanag, Jaonli, Shrikanth and the Gangotri group of peaks. The hike to Dayara Bugyal is of 8 kms and is of easy to medium grade. The trek trail passes through thick coniferous forests and then opens to a vast grassland which is the Dayara Bugyal. The trek is accessible throughout the year and offers different views seasonally .For those who enjoy skiing, it is also the ideal destination to visit in January and February.

Easy fit for beginners –

This trek trail is from easy to moderate ascent and requires less fitness levels which is suitable for beginners as compared to other Himalayan treks. It is a hike to one of the highest meadows in India. This trek is accessible throughout the year – From April to October it offers full greenery and snow – laden trails from November to March . This is a small trek offering bigger mountain experiences. This is an easy trek which can be done by anyone. The summit view is way beyond peaceful and it has a beautiful scenery. It offers a 360 degree view of the mighty Himalayan peaks.

Itinerary –

Your first job is to reach Dehradun by any suitable means. After reaching your first job is to reach Natin which is a 190 km drive ranging 5 to 6 hours. On the second day your trek would be from  Raithal to Gui campsite . Day 3 is for Gui campsite to Dayara Bugyal and back to Gui campsite. Day 4 is the trek back from Gui campsite to Raithal and then traveling back to Dehradun.

Synopsis of the trek –

According to locals, Dayara refers to a circular piece of land and during the trek people come across lush green savannah’s called Bugyal which is spread across the Himalayas and is a sight to behold. The meadows make the best wintertime display.

The trek starts from the village of Barsu. Trekkers can enjoy mesmerizing  views of a stream flowing where they can halt and capture the picturesque sight. While going ahead, the trekking trail further takes to the lush forest of maple and oak trees. One won’t find any animals there except mountain dogs which might accompany you throughout the trek. Along Barnala Tal, excellent camping opportunities exist.. As you ascend more, the forest starts to clear out and all you are left with is a wide, sprawling, undulating, beautiful, and lush meadow of Dayara Bugyal.

 Best time to visit –

April to June which is the summer season and winters from October to December. The weather remains mild in summer and it’s neither too cold nor too hot. During the summer season, the peaks remain visible so Carrying light woolens is advisable.

One of the best yet the terrible time to go for trekking, is the monsoons because there are chances of getting roads blocked due to landslides, but the scenic view is worth taking the risk. So a lot of people do visit here during this season.

The area receives heavy snowfall throughout December and January, that is why winter season the best time to go for trekking. However not everyone is meant to enjoy snow so if you don’t like snow then avoid visiting during the winters.

This is one of the best treks for beginners so if you are a beginner ready to start your Trekking expeditions then you should definitely go for this trek. It is unique, and you will undoubtedly adore it.It is also advisable that you carry the necessary requirements for a trek if you are going for the first time. Carry suitable clothes. Also proper stationaries should be carried. Water bottle, torches, raincoats should be kept too. Also you need to do a little bit of research before going here.
